Sabbara was established in 2012 in response to the escalating war in Syria and its devastating consequences for families all over the country. We aim to train women in traditional skills, to create a sustainable infrastructure for production, as wells develop an international market for their work. drawing on the many different cultural traditions within Syria, the women of Sabbara have created their own bright, colourful style, reflecting the pleasure they take in their work as well as their determination not to be beaten by their circumstances. Community and education programmes have ensured all members of the families benefit. your enjoyment of their work makes a real difference to a great many lives.
